Every year, we set goals, convinced that this time we’ll achieve them. But often, things don’t go as planned, and we find ourselves stuck in a cycle. We set goals, fail, feel guilty, and try again, only to make the same mistakes.
Instead of aiming for sudden, drastic changes, like cutting out all sodas at once, try gradually reducing your intake. For instance, aim to halve your soda consumption first. When you reach that goal, cut it in half again. The problem many of us face is setting vague goals, like “I’m going to be happy this year,” without a clear plan for how to achieve or measure it.
To make real progress, set measurable goals and find someone to hold you accountable. If your goals are clearly defined, it’s easier to track your progress. Having an accountability partner can keep you honest and motivated.
Remember, failure is part of the process. Not everyone reaches all their goals, and that’s okay. Setting high-reaching goals means even achieving 50-60% of them is a big success.
So, what are your goals this year? If it’s “getting in shape,” break it down into measurable steps. For example, you could set goals to exercise a certain number of times per week, gradually increase your workout intensity, or track your calorie intake. These smaller goals will help you stay on track and see progress.
For accountability, consider partnering with a friend, coworker, family member, or significant other. And remember, if you need extra support, you can reach out to us. We offer free weekly check-ins and guidance. Just email us at Support@DIYactive.com and let us know your goals.
