The ladies are halfway through their weight loss journey, making significant mental and physical strides this week. Today, we welcomed another team member, Fitness Buddy 3. She’s in great shape and is so sweet that instead of feeling jealous, we’re using her as motivation. She’s a mom of three and works full-time, yet she stays active for 45 minutes a day and likes the idea of daily 15-minute strength sessions.
We’re at the midpoint of our challenge and really hitting our stride. Exercise is becoming a habit, and it’s a great feeling. I have so much more energy than before. After work last night, I even walked and cleaned the house, which is quite out of character for me. I’m back to making good food choices, but it’s frustrating to think that the 1-2 pounds I was on track to lose found me again. One pound is roughly equal to 3500 calories, and had I not indulged in desserts over the weekend, I would have seen a loss on the scale. I keep trying to remind myself to leave the past in the past and start fresh each day.
Today, Pam and I have a workout class on top of our daily fitness lab. Hopefully, that helps me burn off some of those 3500 calories. My teammates are doing a great job sticking to the plan and getting in their workouts, along with 45 minutes of activity most days of the week. Back to those desserts—I was feeling weak and told FB2 that I had two desserts and was eyeing another. She texted me not to eat that last piece of pie, but I did anyway. I need to move on and get over it.
Starting fresh won’t be easy because I’m heading to Las Vegas tomorrow. I’m excited, but controlling my eating will be a challenge. I saw Pam at a workout class last night, and she’s clearly losing inches and looks fantastic. I hope my compliment keeps her motivated.
FB2 shares my frustration with the scale, but FB1 is doing great, proving the program works if you commit to it 100%. We also welcomed a new team member. Since FB3 and FB4 are just starting, they’re off the hook for sharing their numbers.
Vegas has been exciting, overwhelming, and disturbing all at once. I walked over 50,000 steps in three days and used the hotel’s exercise facility, luckily having a rest day on Saturday. Yesterday was crazy; I overslept and missed my morning workout, so I’ll double up tomorrow.
Day 19 was weigh-in day, but I decided to skip it since I didn’t have access to a scale first thing in the morning. But I did notice that my weight on Thursday was up by 0.4 pounds from last week, likely due to some indulgent desserts.
Pam was our biggest loser this week, shedding 2.2 pounds. FB1 lost 1.8 pounds, bringing her total to 4.8 pounds, just 0.2 pounds away from her 5-pound goal. FB2 was up 2 pounds but isn’t giving up because she feels so much better and has put too much effort into this challenge.
The saying “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” didn’t hold true for the weight I gained. Despite eating healthily and staying active, I gave myself a break from tracking food on My Fitness Pal. Today, I’m up 2 pounds, which puts me 4.6 pounds away from my goal with only 8 days left. Reflecting on the weekend, it wasn’t the food but the drinks—pineapple juice, coconut rum, and a few glasses of champagne—adding up to over 3600 calories. My weekends are sabotaging me!
It’s game on for the last leg of this challenge. I’m ramping up my cardio for the next 8 days to prove to myself that I can lose this weight. On a positive note, my body fat percentage has dropped by 2.8%, meaning I’m moving in the right direction. Keeping a positive mindset is crucial.
