Must-Have Backpack Gear for Every Modern Man on the Go

When you’re heading on a trip, it’s important for men to pack their backpacks with the right essentials. Besides picking your travel items and the right backpack, here’s a list of must-haves for every guy who loves backpacking around the world.

Choosing the right luggage is just as important as what you pack. Many frequent travelers now prefer small suitcases. These are easier to navigate through busy airports, fit neatly in overhead compartments, and are perfect for short trips or when traveling light. Plus, they’re stylish and practical, making it simple to access your belongings.

For your base layer, bring a thermal, long-sleeve shirt. It’s great on its own in cooler climates, and you can add a jacket or fleece sweater if it gets really cold. Make sure to pack at least one snug fleece to wear over your base layer for extra warmth.

A lightweight, waterproof, and windproof hooded jacket is also essential. These jackets are perfect for rainy weather and can be easily packed away when not needed.

Pack at least two cotton shirts for summer travel. Dark colors are best as they don’t show stains easily. Also, include quick-drying shirts, especially if you’re heading to a humid area—they’ll dry fast and keep you comfortable.

Don’t forget a collared, buttoned shirt. If you’re traveling to a cold place, choose long-sleeved; if it’s warm, short-sleeved will do. A collared shirt is handy if you need to dress up for an evening out or want to look presentable in conservative areas.

Make sure you pack the right bottoms. Include at least one thermal base layer of pants if you’re going to a cold region. They’re compact and useful in chilly weather. Even if you aren’t planning to hike, hiking pants can be very comfortable for city exploration. Choose lightweight, quick-drying ones, possibly with side pockets. Also, pack a pair of dress pants for nicer occasions and comfortable shorts for casual exploring. And of course, don’t forget your underwear—quick-drying ones are the best so you can easily wash and reuse them.

Your socks are just as important. Bring one thick pair for cold climates and thin, quick-drying ones for warm weather. For shoes, choose something comfortable for walking. You might want to bring along some flip-flops to rest your feet occasionally, or buy a pair at your destination.

Leave space in your backpack for hygiene essentials, especially if you’re going abroad. A travel toothbrush with a small tube of toothpaste, a small bottle of shampoo, a compact bar of soap with a soapbox, and deodorant are must-haves. Flushable wipes like DUDE Wipes are great for staying clean on the go. If you’re traveling to a sunny place, bring sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays. A small razor is a good addition too.

Consider packing these extra items for a more comfortable trip. Start your list and check off these items as you pack to ensure you have everything you need.
